The Washington State Beanie is part of Nancy Bates's All American Road Trip Collection. The pattern is not part of the National Park's Book. The pattern can be purchased on Ravelry and on www.nancybatesdesigns.com
We think Nancy put it best:
"The varied climate zones in Washington range from semi-arid in the east to lush rainforests in the west…and just about everything else in between. Agriculture, adventure tourism, lumber production, wineries, and manufacturing each thrive in perfect conditions. Even the foggy and overcast days that make Seattle one of the least sunny cities in the country also help create the spectacular forests that cover half of the state and has earned it the nickname “The Evergreen State”. Whether the day is bright and sunny or drenched in rain, there’s something about a forest that draws you in and invites you to stay a while. With just four colors, this design embodies the beauty of a fog-covered forest on a dreary day.".
Kit includes: Enough *yarn (4 colors), 6 stitch markers and a clear reusable project bag to make the Washington State Beanie. The pattern is sized adult, 19" to 22".
The Kit does not include the pattern and US 5 x 16" (3.75mm) for the brim or US 7 x 16" (4.5mm) for the hat body or #7 double-point needles to finish.
About the yarn: We chose 4 colors in Malabrigo Rios, 100% Superwash Merino, to get the closest match to Nancy Bates' sample beanie. Rios is machine washable and ultra-soft, making this a beanie you won't want to take off!
*We've allotted a minimum of 10% extra for yarn usage based on the pattern recommendations by Nancy Bates. This hat with the yarn and notions priced separately would be $81.04.
**Please note that as beautiful as the Washington State Beanie is, this is not a beginner pattern for those just learning Fair Isle techniques. For those looking for something a little easier, we recommend the Mammoth Mountain Beanie Kit. It makes for a perfect first Fair Isle hat to warm you up before tackling the Washington State Beanie.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS
Disappointed, the yarn given was a mediocre amount. The yarn feels very thin and not soft.
The pattern is separate…The pattern did not come with directions on how to make the Sasquatch.
