Washington Beanie is the second release in her "All American Road Trip" series of beanie knitting kits inspired by US states, with a new design appearing every 4-6 weeks.

"The foggy and overcast days that make Seattle one of the least sunny cities in the country also help create the spectacular forests that cover half of the state and has earned it the nickname āThe Evergreen Stateā. Whether the day is bright and sunny or drenched in rain, thereās something about a forest that draws you in and invites you to stay a while. With just four colors, this design embodies the beauty of a fog-covered forest on a dreary day."
KitĀ includes: Printed & digital copies of the pattern with enough *yarn (4 colors) and 6 stitch markers to make the Washington Beanie. The pattern is sized adult, 19" to 22".

The Kit does not include needles; pattern calls for US 5 (3.75mm) for the brim and US 7 (4.5mm) for the hat body.
About the yarn:Ā We chose 4 colors in two bases (Malabrigo Rios & Berroco Vintage) to get the closest match to Nancy Bates' sample beanie. Both Rios and Vintage are machine washable and ultra-soft, making this a beanie you won't want to take off!
*We've allotted 10% extra for yarn usage based on the pattern recommendations by Nancy Bates. If you want to knit a fold-over brim or add extra length, we recommend buying full skeins. This hat when the yarn is priced separately, $76.04.Ā With whole skeins you could make up to 4 hats by switching color placement.
**Please note that as beautiful as the Washington Beanie is, this is not a beginner pattern for those just learning Fair Isle techniques. For those looking for something a little easier, we recommend the Mammoth Mountain Beanie Kit. It makes for a perfect first Fair Isle hat to warm you up before tackling the Washington Beanie.
