Description
The Kansas Hat is part of Nancy Bates's All American Road Trip Collection. The pattern is not in Knitting the National Parks Book.
We think Nancy said it best:
This design was inspired by one of the most famous features of Kansas…wheat fields! Just as the right soil and temperature combine to make Kansas one of the top wheat producers in the country, warm colors and a wheat-inspired stitch combine to create a design that captures the essence of wheat farming in Kansas. As John Denver once sang: “Gold is just a windy Kansas wheat field and blue is just a Kansas summer sky”.
👉 Size: One size fits an average adult-size head. (Approx. 19" - 22").
👉 Kit includes: 3 colors of Malabrigo Rios (color 1 - 105 yds, Colors 2 & 3, 52 yds each), and 6 stitch markers.
👉 The Kit does not include the pattern or needles; the pattern calls for US 5 x 16"(3.75mm) for the brim, US 7 x 16" (4.5mm) for the hat body. and #7 DPN. The pattern can be found on Ravelry for $5.00.
About the yarn: We chose 3 colors in Malabrigo Rios to get the closest colors to match Nancy Bates's sample beanie. Rios is 100% superwash merino. With full skeins of yarn and notions, this hat would cost $54.96 to knit.
